Innovative Laser Acne Solution

Find your confidence in better skin with a laser solution to your acne

At Tushe Laser Clinic we know that acne can be a long journey, so we’re here for you every step of the way.

The solution we offer you will depend on the grade of your condition, from mild to severe, including inflammatory acne, lesions, nodules or cystic acne. Even if you think your acne may be too painful and severe to treat, our acne specialists will refer you to our expert dermatologists or doctors, who will recommend the best treatments and skincare that works for you, your skin type and the acne you’re suffering with. They can also prescribe medication if required.

Acne is classified into three different types:

What results can I expect to see from acne treatment?

Everyone is, of course, is different and acne can vary hugely from person to person. Your specialist acne practitioner will most likely prescribe a tailored course of treatment, and a skincare programme to maintain at home. In some more severe cases, we’ll refer you to a doctor who may prescribe medication.

Acne Problem Overview

What is acne?

Acne is caused when the hair follicles in your skin become inflamed or blocked with bacteria, oil or dead skin. Each pore on your skin leads to a hair follicle and sebaceous (oil) gland. These oil glands release sebum (oil) which travels up the hair, through the pore and onto the surface of your skin. If the sebaceous gland over-produces oil or there is excess production of skin cells, this can cause a build-up in the follicle, blocking pores, attributing to bacteria growth and acne formation. Poor hygiene actually doesn’t cause acne, however, cleansing your skin daily and exfoliating weekly can help pores from becoming blocked.

There are several types of acne, including:

Fungal acne (pityrosporum folliculitis)

Fungal acne occurs when yeast builds up in your hair follicles. These can be itchy and inflamed.

Cystic acne

Cystic acne causes deep, pus-filled pimples and nodules. These can cause scars.

Hormonal acne

Hormonal acne affects adults who have an overproduction of sebum that clogs their pores.

Nodular acne

Nodular acne is a severe form of acne that caouses pimples on the surface of your skin, and tender, nodular lumps under your skin.
All of these forms of acne can affect your self-esteem, and both cystic and nodular acne can lead to permanent skin damage in the form of scarring. It’s best to seek help from a healthcare provider early so they can determine the best treatment option(s) for you.

Acne Problems

What causes acne?

Puberty and hormonal changes are the most common factors. Stress can also aggravate acne, as well as a poor diet, the skincare products you are using, or it could simply be down to genetics. Women are much more likely to suffer from acne due to hormones – this includes pregnancy, during your period, or if you suffer from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).
Can acne be cured?
There is no definite cure for acne. Our aim is to improve and control your symptoms as best we can. Acne can sometimes take a long time to clear, so we’ll work with you and your symptoms continually to find the best course of treatment, but we do see some clients who see amazing results in just a few weeks.
Will acne go away on its own?
During teenage years, it can often go away on its own. Adult acne is much less likely to clear, but this will always vary person to person and you should always be aware of the risk of scarring. So if you are concerned, always seek medical advice.
Therapy Options

Tushe Laser Clinic acne therapy options

The most common therapy includes repeated antibiotic and antiseptic treatment, abscess splitting as well as scar excision and wound coverage using split-thickness skin grafts. Disadvantages of this procedure include recurring relapses, repeated small or large-scale surgical procedures, pain, necessary bandage changes, loss of work time due to calling in sick and mental stress with possible subsequent limitations of social contact. Laser treatment using a diode laser such as the MeDioStar NeXT Family offers a good alternative therapy option. Similar to hair removal, the infrared radiation of the laser penetrates deep enough into the skin to reach the sebaceous gland follicles. Porphyrin-forming bacteria and fungi considered to be local causes of acne are destroyed in this procedure. The light destroys the bacteria that live in the skin and cause acne and leads to the shrinkage of the inflamed sebaceous glands. The pustules begin to clear. The skin condition will improve after a series of treatments.
Preparing for your treatment

What’s the first step to starting treatment?

After you have made your enquiry, we’ll get you booked in for a consultation with an acne practitioner. We’ll remove your make-up and examine your acne to look at the type of lesions, oiliness and inflammation, the acne grade and if you have any scarring on the skin. We’ll also ask you about your previous medical history and any other treatments you have tried, and you’ll have plenty of time to ask us questions. We will then prescribe you the best course of treatment and a skincare programme.
